The former Apex Central Bank of Nigeria Deputy Governor, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia has called for an end to all the killings going on in the southern Kaduna and other States in the country saying, “it must stop with immediate effect. Every Nigerian child, is my child my child”
Mailafiya who was invited to the office of Nigeria’s Department of State Security Service (DSS), on Wednesday in north central Plateau State for interrogation over his comment on Boko Haram, got released on bail .
Speaking with Journalists shortly after his release, the Ex- Apex Central Bank of Nigeria Deputy Governor said, “I am not talking Politics! like Nelson Mandela, the struggle for the emancipation of the people is my concern and I am not afraid to die for the sake the people” said Mailafiya.
He said, he was treated with great respect and decorum during his interrogation by the security operatives, but insisted that, “ it is the duty of government to protect lives and property of its citizens, adding that, government at all levels must take the security of lives seriously”.
Meanwhile, his wife Margaret Vou Mailafia had earlier, called on the international community, Generals Yakubu Gowon,Olusegun Obasanjo, T Y Danjuma, J T Useni, Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro,IBB and other stakeholders to intervene in the release of her husband unhurt.
She made the call in a media chat with journalists close to the DSS office in Jos while waiting for the husband to be released by the DSS and insisted that, the DSS should not give her husband food, water or anything to be taken orally.
According to Mrs. Mailafiya, it is not possible for everyone to belong to the APC and that the 19 Northern Governors should be held responsible if anything happens to her husband.
Recalled that, Mailafia in an interview with a south west commercial city Lagos based media house, had accused one of Nigerian northern governors of been a leader of the dreaded Boko Haram.
Sawabiya observed that, protesters had been on ground at the DSS office carrying placards with different inscriptions on it which reads, Stop killings, free Mailafiya and so on in show of solidarity, asking for the release of Dr. obadiah mailafia after being promised to be released by 5:00pm.
The sympathisers of Mailafiya who were in their numbers from different States of middlebelt, maintained a waiting position for his release from the DSS office.
