Peace & Security:  Operation Safe Haven calls on New media to  maintain patriotic spirit.

The Special Task Force(STF) in charge of security of lives and properties of  citizens in Plateau, Bauchi and parts of southern Kaduna known as Operation Safe Haven(OSH) has called on the online Media practitioners to be patriotic in the manner they handle news stories during Crisis situations.

Commander the Operation Safe Haven, Maj. Gen. Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, made this call at the Operations’ Head Quarters in Jos when he received on courtesy visit, members of Plateau bloggers and online Media practitioners.

Okonkwo described the media practioners as critical stakeholders in handling secuirity issues and used the visit to call on  the Journalists and Citizens of Plateau State, to continue giving all the necessary support and encouragement by providing the Operation with all the necessary information that would continue restoring peace and security to all the affected parts of the State and it’s environs.

He assured Citizens of their (OSH)’s total commitments in  maintaining peaceful coexistence.

“We acknowledge your role in curbing insecurity and I advice you to stand for peace, intergrity, as we are also committed to doing our job beyond call for duty in ensuring that, peace is restored in all Plateau communities” Said the Commander.

“the media has the ability to quench crisis and can also incite people against one another, don’t do that, so that people don’t keep killing themselves like what happened in Rwanda”

Concerning recent attacks in Barkin Ladi LGA where a monarch was killed, Major Gen. Okonkwo said, “ We have been arresting and investigations are ongoing, attacks on communities have reduced, except for isolated killings. There is no perfect or 100% secuirity anywhere in the world. We will still work arcidiously to reduce it to the bearest minimum.

Earlier during his presentation, leader of the delegation Friday Bako, said, they are in the OSH’s visit to partner with them in projection of peace on the Plateau.

Bako applauded the operation for discharging their responsibility in curbing some of the insecurities ongoing in some of the communities in the state without fear or favour.

He appealed for the security to build a synergy with the association as the online medium is one key platforms where people nowadays gets their informations due to the evolution in technology in this 21st century.
