WITHDRAWAL OF MEMBERSHIP FROM THE NEWLY RECONSITITUTED PLATEAU STATE CARETAKER COMMITTEE (PLCC)

I write in reference to the decision of the National Working Committee conveyed  via a letter signed by the NOS dated Wednesday August 26, 2020 on the subject “PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER: RECONSTITUTION OF STATE CARETAKER COMMITTEE”

I express my profound appreciation to the National Working Committee for finding me worthy of approving my nomination as a “Member of the Newly Reconstituted Plateau State Caretaker Committee (PLCC)”.

I received this appointment with much enthusiasm as another opportunity to contribute to the rebuilding of trust to the Plateau State chapter of the PDP which has been engulfed with crises leading to a plethora of litigations being a fall-out of Ward and Local Government Congresses.

Being privileged to be at the Governor Ortom’s intervention meeting which gave birth to this new PLCC, my initial acceptance of this offer was with the belief that the new PLCC was set to correct issues that were done wrong and normalise the abnormalities arising from the actions and inactions of the immediate past State EXCO which later also metamorphosed into the Caretaker Committee.

The contending issues are majorly bothering on the conduct of Ward and LGA Congresses, which if the new PLCC resolves will set the stage for a peaceful and acceptable State Congress.  However, from our introductory meeting of 27th and the first main meeting of 28th, it is evident that the new PLCC was set to continue the execution of the errors that brought the crises.  The endorsement to be part of the planned State Congress scheduled for 29th August, 2020 and to be facilitators without resolving outstanding cases at Ward and LGA levels, and without withdrawals of the pending court cases on same is against both the spirit and the letter of reconciliation and progress of which I am not convinced to be part of such a process.

On this note, I write to humbly withdraw my membership of the newly constituted PLCC.

I am yours sincerely,

Prof Dimis Mai-Lafia”.
